Credentials: A Snapshot

Creativity Background
I have been involved with the growth and development of children and adults for over 20 years. Before I pursued graduate training as a clinical social worker in 1993, I was an art teacher working with children, adolescents, and adults. I approached art and the creative process as a vehicle for growth and inner knowing. I have worked with groups and individuals, creating safe spaces where the creative process can foster the unfolding of a more genuine expression of self.

Psychotherapist
As a psychotherapist, I approach therapy with a similar sensibility. I believe that therapy - when it works well - helps us to manifest a more engaged and meaningful life where our unique contributions become accessible to ourselves and to the people and communities we care about. There are many ways to reach this goal (see the section on "My Orientation").

Supervisor
As a supervisor for Catholic Charities for several years, I launched and supervised 2 model programs. One was a parenting program that offered individual counseling, group work and case management services for teen moms with a focus on nutrition, prenatal care, and attachment. Additionally, I designed and directed a theater based literacy program that used the creative arts to help at risk youth express the emotional reality of their lives, integrating my creative and educational skills with mental health services.

Also within Catholic Charities, I spent two years as Clinical Supervisor of Counseling Services for an adolescent GED program which provided individual counseling and psycho-educational group work services to 150 young men and women.

Cable TV Producer & Host
in 2001, I helped found, co-produce and co-host- Frontiers in Psychotherapy.TV. This is a weekly TV show broadcasting in Brooklyn and Manhattan focusing on cutting edge psychotherapeutic issues of concern to the lay public and to professionals in the field. Frontiers also provides Continuing Education Credits for social workers, psychologists and nurses (www.Frontiers.tv or see section on "Frontiers In Psychotherapy.Com").
